Pieter M Botha Orthotic and Prosthetic Practice attends to all Orthotic and Prosthetic needs and conditions and specialises in the manufacture and fitment of a range of artificial limbs, other prostheses and orthotic braces. Prosthetic limbs are custom made for amputees.

Who is Pieter M Botha?

Pieter was born in the small town of Carolina, Mpumalanga where he was raised on a farm. Here he discovered his intense love for nature, farm animals, wild animals and the countryside in all its beauty. On the farm, he also learned skills such as working with heavy machinery, soldering and welding. From a very young age, he became aware of a certain inherent restlessness to acquire more and more knowledge about how and why things in general, work.

Pieter word erken as die eerste Mediese Ortoïs en Prostetikus in Suid Afrika wat homself op spesifieke navorsing in sy spesialiteitsrigting toegespits het en is ook die eerste met 'n nagraadse kwalifikasie op hierdie gebied in Suid Afrika.

Research and Postgraduate Study

Pieter M Botha's amputee patients, Joseph van der Linde practicing His research, which was undertaken at the world renowned University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, lead him to discover the importance of prosthetic weight for vascular amputees. As a matter of interest, one of his patients broke the world record for the 100m for transtibial amputees.
