MORTON's NEUROMA

A neuroma is a thickening of nerve tissue that may develop in various parts of the body. The most common neuroma in the foot is Morton's neuroma which normally occurs on the nerves of the metatarsals, between the third and fourth toes and usually presents as a result of irritation, trauma or prolonged excessive pressure. The incidence of Morton's neuroma is 8 to 10 times greater in women than men which immediately indicates that a probable cause of this condition may well be the type of shoes worn by ladies as opposed to men.
